Sophomore, CeJay Blakley is the 15 year old daughter of Travis Blakley and Erin Houghton. She has 3 siblings, Kara, Kathlena, and Seth. She is involved in volleyball, softball, colorguard, and journalism at Clarke. In Blakley’s free time she likes to spend it with her friends, family, and boyfriend. Her Grandma Lila is her biggest indpiration because of how she looks at life: "She has been there since the day I was born and has done so much for me. She has always had a warm heart, a bed for me to sleep in, a delicious meal when I am over.  She has taught me how valuable family is and how important it is to spent time with them, that you can learn from every experience, how to cook like her, and that no matter the flaws that someone may have, try to see through it, the value of dollar, and that camping during the Iowa State Fair is a must."After high school she plans to attend a university and major in pediatric therapy, her passion. Her favorite memory of high school so far is experiencing state softball her freshman year.

Meet the Staff

Senior Juan Marcos Martin Tomas, was born in Lexington Nebraska and is currently living in Osceola, Iowa. Martin is a senior and plans to leave high school and join an apprenticeship in the music industry.  In his spare time he enjoys playing video games, soccer, and basketball. However, his real passion involves music and is his future goal is to become a music producer and create some hit videos. Martin plans to work his way up in his career and own his own record label. He has plenty of hard work ahead him, but he wants to give back to his family in exchange for everything they have done for him.

Sydnee Redman is a Senior at Clarke High School. Redman is the sibling of three brothers Stuart, David, and Jacob. She is involved in band, basketball, tennis, softball, National Honors Society, and student council. In her free time she enjoys playing in sports, playing with her dog, or spending with her boyfriend and friends. Her favorite high school memory was when when Zoske and Sara lost at mini golf and they had to go to the driving range that was right by the mini golf and they picked up a ball in the middle of the course and went over by the people driving and chucked the ball and yelled “HOLE IN ONE” then high fived the people driving. Her plans after high school are to attend DMACC studying criminal justice and later attend a four year college.

Senior Ticha Bulis is the daughter of Awah Yuti and Harun Weda. She is a cheerful student who likes to get involved in school. Bulis is a football manager and is also a part of the school’s soccer club. Soccer is something that Bulis enjoys playing as a pastime. Bulis finds inspiration in her cousins as she believes that they are good role models for her, because of them she strives to do good in life. As this is Bulis’ last year in high school, she has created many memories. However, one of her most favorite memories would have to be homecoming week this year, because she found it very fun to decorate and valued the time she spent with her friends. Bulis’ plans after high school are to attend college and become a maternity nurse.

Sebastian Avalos is a Junior in high school. One of the things he enjoys doing is playing music, soccer, basketball and helping his brother with his car. Sebastian also works at the Lakeside Casino he likes it very much. Sebastian is also involved in band that is why he likes music he is also in jazz 1 and 2. He is also a member of the soccer club with all his friends. His plans after college are to major in something related to business he still isn't sure what specifically but that will come with time he also plans to work while in college to pay off his loans. His role model is his dad Arturo Avalos he has always been very dedicated with having a good well kept family. Mr. Avalos works a lot so he can make his family happy. Sebastian also has one sibling his brother Arturo Avalos Jr and of course his mother Olivia Avalos.

Senior Taylor Lewis is the 17 year old daughter of Nancy Watson and Ronnie Lewis. She has seven siblings; Carrie Ventura, Cierra Lewis, Jose Cortez, Victoria Cortez,Valentina Cortez, Vanessa Cortez, Collin Watson.Lewis’s favorite high school memory is celebrating during homecoming week by decorating and dressing up. She is involved in volleyball, but during her free time, she likes collecting things. Lewis’s older sister, Carrie, is her biggest inspiration because she has been through a lot, but shown her strength by overcoming many obstacles. Lewis also says that Carrie is a great mother, and she can't thank her enough everything she has done for her. Lewis’s passion is being with her nieces and nephews. When she graduates, she plans on staying around Osceola and working.

Sophomore Diana Rodriguez is daughter of Rosa Rodriguez and Ruben Rodriguez. She is the little sister of Jordan who is a senior in college, and bigger sister of Ruben Jr. who is in second grade. Her biggest inspiration/role model is her mother, for being the strongest she can for her family. Her favorite high school memory is going to prom her freshmen year. She plays soccer for a passion because she enjoys it, it helps her take release all her stress that is involved in her life. She hopes to continue to play soccer when she head of to college. Right now she’s involved in a lot of activities like FCCLA, Art club, the Soccer club, and playing basketball. She spends time with her friends and writes poems in her free time as a hobby.

Senior Alberto Figueroa is the son of of Maria Pesina and the brother of Ismael and Maria Figueroa. In his free time he enjoys playing soccer and watching Deadpool. Alberto enjoys saving his money from his job rather than spending it, so he has enough money for a car and save up for college. His biggest inspiration is Bruce Lee because he always went to his full potential and was a very smart man. He was still very successful even though he did not finish college. Figueroa's plans after high school are undecided. 

Senior Ariella May is the daughter of Doug and Shelly May. She has three siblings: Allyssa,  Zethann, and Amantha Bair. Many of you may recall her as the 2016-2017 homecoming princess. During the summer she works at the pool as a lifeguard and enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. May looks up to her older sisters because they have taught her to have high standards and alway remind her to choose what's right. May is passionate about being a good example and being a leader to others. Completing her last year at Clarke May is involved in many extracurricular activities which include: FCCLA, drama, color guard, student council and managing sports. May's favorite high school memory was her last Homecoming dance. While the dance was in progression May told her boyfriend to fake propose to her. Her friends came over screaming ¨No, No! too soon!¨ After high school she plans to a university and major in child development. May is just one of the wonderful seniors leaving this 2016-2017 school year.

Senior Skylar Johnson is the son of Colter and Manda Wright. He has two brothers Alec and Drake. Johnson’s passion is hunting, because to him, “Hunting, its the best place to be alone and quiet with your thoughts while still getting the biggest adrenaline rush when a deer no matter the size walks in front of you.” Johnson's favorite high school memory is: “ Going off on my first varsity start as a sophomore, getting honorable mention as a junior, and finding new friends and knowing who the ones there for me are while also finding myself. His role model is his mom, because in the end she always put others first and does her best to support the  family. She has never gave up on him and that is why he works his butt off in baseball. He is currently working at Hyvee and does many various amounts of side jobs. His hobbies include baseball, hunting, fishing, shed hunting and hanging out with friends and being closer with them and others. Johnson plans to attend a two year college after high school to earn his Associate of Arts degree then transfer to a university to major in business management.

Senior Ayden McAtee is the 17 year old daughter of Amanda and Nathan McAtee. She is an employee at Southern Hills Nursing home. At school she is involved in book club and GSA (Gay Straight Alliance). In her free time she likes to hang out with friends, listen to music, and attend bonfires.  Although she plans on attending college at SWCC to earn her AAS degree, she doesn’t forget how much fun she has had in high school. Her favorite memory in high school is when she went out to eat with her family for her birthday and ended up getting sick from eating too much. However it was memorable since she was able to celebrate with her two brothers, Luke and Andrew. Her biggest inspiration is her Aunt Brittany because she has shaped her into who she is today. After high school McAtee plan on achieving her goal: to become an EMT.

Senior Sam Janssen has two younger siblings named Bianca and Emma. His parents are Clint and Anneliese. They usually support his hobbies of sleeping and making what could possibly be counted as art. Along with art, he has a big passion for music as it is nice to listen to and easy to connect to. He gets inspired by other artists he sees on social media as he wants to be able to make art on the same level they can. He is also in National Art Honor Society, or NAHS, to more improve his art. Another Club he’s in is Gay Straight Alliance, or GSA, as he is passionate about LGBT+ rights. Janssen's plans after high school are undecided.
