Bound for State?

As this past baseball season ended, Clarke Community High School sent its farewells to the head coach Justin Stoulil. He spent the last three years at Clarke as a head coach going 18-74. 1-30 his first year, 8-21 his second year and 9-23. This doesn’t seem like much of an improvement but Stoulil took the team towards a 3rd round district fight in his second year of coach but upsettingly lost in a 4-8 loss against Des Moines Christian. The last time and only other time Clarke baseball has made into the 3rd round districts was in 2010. Finishing off his coaching career Stoulil ended things with 7-1 loss in heartbreaker against Earlham in the second round district game.

Since Stoulil started coaching, the baseball team has been meeting up this past late summer/fall working on the defensive and offensive aspects of the game. Thanks to the help of the current assistant coach and very generous parents helping on their own time! The team looks to have a much better season than a 9-23 record and doesn’t plan on stopping at 3rd round districts. The expectations are high and the mojo and drive is even higher. The team meets up on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a few hours each and goes through various drills and critical aspects of playing. The improvements are already being seen and everyone has their hopes for a successful season for 2017.
