Our boys basketball team played against the I-35 Roadrunners on senior night. Before the game, the seniors were honored as they were about to play their last game at home. Brandyne Olin and Troy Morgan were both honored for their record breaking performances throughout the season, scoring the most points in a game, and dropping the most threes from long range respectively. Four out of the five starters were all seniors; Brandyne Olin, Troy Morgan, Grant Wishon, Gabe Crawford, and sophomore Cobey Robins. The boys fought hard in the first quarter to lead 26-22 against the Roadrunners. Both teams scored 12 in the second quarter as our Indians went into the locker room, leading 38-34. Unfortunately, the Roadrunners outscored the Indians in the 3rd quarter, to tie the game up at 49. The game became increasingly tense at the clock winded down in the 4th quarter. With 9 seconds left in the game, and the game tied, the Roadrunners had possession of the ball as they drove down the lane and scored on a floater to put them ahead by two. The Indians inbounded the ball to sophomore Lenny Peavey, as he broke loose from the defense to throw up a last second attempt from long range, but unfortunately the shot fell short from the basket. The crowd cheered and applauded the seniors for the last 4 years of dedication to the program. I asked senior Brandyne Olin how he felt about the game and it being his last home one, he replied “Losing senior night is probably something I’ll never forget, it’ll be stuck at the back of my mind.” Coach James Larson will look to rebuild the program after losing 4 valuable seniors this year..
