Making it to state once is impressive, but three times is stellar. Senior LeeAnn Helgevold is on to state for the third time in her high school career. Helgevold will be bowling at state along with Junior Brock Bucy, which will be his first time bowling at state. On Valentine’s Day the bowling team traveled to Council Bluffs, not knowing that they would be leaving with two state qualifiers. Helgevold began her second game with 7 strikes in a row and ended up shooting a two game series of 449. Bucy shot a 448 in his two game series. Coach Dale Helgevold, the high school girls and boys coach said, “[W]ell the day didn’t end like I would have liked, to have both teams qualify for the State High School bowling tournament. However I can say I am super proud of all the Clarke bowlers.” Both Bucy and Helgevold will advance onto the state bowling tournament that will take place on Monday February 20th, at Plaza Lanes in Des Moines. The tournament will begin at 10A.M., good luck to all involved!
