The Importance of ELL
For many years the ELL program has been overlooked. These people do not know why such a program exists and if it's even efficient. Although many of the students do not know what the ELL program is for it does not necessarily mean that it is not important, if anything it’s quite the opposite. This program has had many accomplishments that, surprisingly, have gone unnoticed. One may ask, what did they accomplish and why does it matter? Well it may not matter to others, but this program is useful, helpful, and efficient to many students. Students who have difficulties with understanding their assignments and English as a language overall.
To emphasize this, a student in particular has accomplished a long and very difficult task. To provide background information, a person must understand where they originate from. In a country located just below Mexico, located in Central America, El Salvador is a country that is poverty stricken. Most citizens of the United States have not seen this kind of poverty, and maybe never will. For example, meet Bryan Sanchez, a young man who has been through his own share of struggles. An interview was held with Bryan, although the interview was in Spanish, it was translated for the reader’s understanding. I asked, Do you believe this program is efficient and must be implemented in all schools? He responded: “Yes, I do believe this ELL program works well, which is good, although kind of sad to say because other schools neglect this program, not giving other children an opportunity to learn the English language”. Another question I asked was, What were the most difficult things to get used to in this country? He said, “The most difficult things to get used was this country’s tradition, language, and way of life”. While interviewing Bryan, he had a lot to say about the ELL program and how grateful he was to have had an opportunity to learn English. Bryan wishes more schools were more accepting of this ELL program, so more students can have an opportunity to learn and have new a journey with a new language and understanding. Remember, your future is created by what you do today.
